"Six Nations Return?" - Five England Stars who Impressed Steve Borthwick this Weekend

Here are five English players who impressed over the weekend, with the hopes of running into Rees-Zammit on Saturday.

A debut try for Mike Brown, a brace for Bristol's Harry Randall and two try assists including the match winner, for Northampton's Tom Collins, put them all in contention this weekend.

Mike Brown rolled back the year's on his debut for Leicester Tigers, in an astounding Man of the Match performance against Saracens.

In a re-match of last year's Gallagher Premiership Final, Leicester once again secured the win, in a 24-18 victory over Sarries. Brown started at full-back at the Stone X Stadium, and quickly began beating defenders with darting runs.

An eleventh minute kick-return saw Brown beat four Saracens defenders, before offloading to keep the play alive, the next phase of play saw Cameron Henderson crash over to score, with the Saracens defenders caught off-guard.

The Harlequins legend even scored a memorable debut try, linking up effectively with old England teammate Chris Ashton. Brown cut in off the right wing, and stepped past Sean Maitland before diving over to score.

Tom Collins was the architect for Northampton Saints late comeback win over Sale, as the winger set-up the final two tries for the last-minute 38-34 victory.

A brilliant line break to explode through the fatiguing Sale defence, Collins ran straight up the middle of Franklins' Gardens, before offloading to Callum Braley, who slid in to bring the Saints within one score to win.

Collins followed this up with the match-winning assist. Collecting the ball at pace from Rory Hutchinson, Collins sent a long looping pass over to Fraser Dingwall, who was waiting unmarked on the right wing. Dingwall crossed over to score with three minutes left to play, and the Saints fans erupted in celebration.

Two tries for Randall marked an impressive performance by the scrum half. Opening Bristol's scoring, Randall started and finished the first try. Picking from the back of a ruck, Randall found MacGinty who sold the dummy to break through the gain-line. Randall followed up the play and regathered the ball, before running in to score.

Harry Randall opened the scoring immediatly after the half time break, scoring in his classic style. With the Newcastle defenders on their own line, Randall picked the ball from the back of a ruck, and sniped in under a pile of diving defenders to ground the ball. A convincing win against the Falcons, at a time when Bristol are looking to build themselves up from the bottom of the Gallagher Premiership.

Despite ending up on the losing side of the score-line, Cadan Murley shone in Harlequins' narrow defeat to Gloucester. Electric as ever along the wing, Murley would have been playing with an added spark after his release from Steve Borthwick's England squad two weeks ago. Murley impressed with a try, and spells of attacking creativity, with ambitions of re-claiming a spot in the England squad.

Scoring from close range, Murley read the distributing pass of Nick David, who managed to get the pass away before being doubled tackled by Cherry and White defenders. Murley then had open space to run in to the corner and score. The second half try brought Harlequins back level after 50 minutes, to a 14-14 equaliser.

Cadan Murley's opposite man was equally as impressive under Kingsholm's Friday night lights. Frequently the focus of the Gloucester attack, with the Cherry and Whites reaping the benefit of his explosive ball carrying, and athletic running yards. In a match which featured the returning Louis Rees-Zammit getting the headlines, another Gloucester winger should not be overlooked for his outstanding effort against Harlequins.

Thorley contributed to the score-sheet with an impressive display of athleticism. He took to the skies and won the arial battle against Nick David, to catch Santiago Carrera's pin-point cross-field kick.

This score took Gloucester to a two-try lead in the first half, and established their dominance early on in the match. 61 metres from only six carries, Thorley was efficient when given the ball.
