Transfer News: Kyle Sinckler wanted by PREM clubs as major stumbling block emerges

The experienced tighthead is entering the final season of his Toulon contract, with his next move potentially deciding whether he gets one last shot at playing in a Rugby World Cup.

According to the Mail Online, Toulon are keen to keep Sinckler in France, but remaining in the Top 14 would leave him unavailable for England under the RFU's overseas selection policy.

The report claims Sinckler would have to accept a significant pay cut to secure a PREM return.

RUCK understands Sale Sharks are firmly in the race for Sinckler, with Alex Sanderson's side among those weighing up a move.

Sale lost James Harper and WillGriff John during their summer overhaul, although Wales international Tomas Francis has arrived to bolster their tighthead options.

The Mail Online also reports Newcastle Red Bulls have the financial firepower to sign Sinckler, but already have Elliot Millar Mills and Harper tied to long-term deals.

Exeter Chiefs could emerge as another contender, particularly with Josh Iosefa-Scott reportedly out of contract next summer and fresh investment potentially increasing their spending power.

Bath have also been linked, although they already possess considerable tighthead depth through England's Will Stuart, Wales international Archie Griffin and highly-rated Vilikesa Sela.

Sinckler has won 69 England caps and represented his country at the 2019 and 2023 World Cups, while also touring twice with the British & Irish Lions.

His Toulon contract expires in 2027, just months before the World Cup in Australia.

That leaves Sinckler facing a potentially career-defining choice: stay in France on better money or take a pay cut and chase one final World Cup with England.
