RUMOUR | Freddie Burns set for shock Premiership return

Leicester Tiger have reportedly opened talks with Freddie Burns over a possible shock return to Welford Road, according to the Mail Online.

A less than cordial parting of the ways with hometown club Bath saw Burns start a new chapter in Japan with the Shokki Shuttles in 2020.

The 30-year-old fly-half, who won five England caps between 2012 and 2014, reportedly has the option to stay in Asia for another year, but Steve Borthwick is understood to be keen to sign him for the 2021-22 season.

Burns, who played for Tigers between 2014 and 2017, scored well over 500 points as he established himself as a fan favourite during his time at the club.

DID YOU KNOW? Freddie Burns made his England debut, replacing Owen Farrell during the 38-21 victory over New Zealand in 2012
