RUMOUR | Two clubs enter bidding war for England back-rower

Two Gallagher Premiership clubs are reportedly interested in signing Saracens flanker Ben Earl.

Bristol Bears and Northampton Saints are the two named by The Rugby Paper as the front-runners to sign the back-rower, who is a natural leader with maturity beyond his years.

Earl has captained England at Under-20s and was a part of the side that won the Grand Slam in the 2017 Six Nations; he also scored in the U20 World Championship final against New Zealand, going on to captain his country the following campaign.

The 22-year-old then made his international debut on Saturday in England’s 6-13 win over Scotland.

The Saracens back-rower has been in outstanding form this season, but Sarries are understood to be more interested in hanging onto their more high-profile internationals, such as the Vunipola brothers.

Just today, England’s first choice hooker Jamie George confirmed he will be staying with the club.

DID YOU KNOW: He graduated from Queen Mary University with a degree in comparative literature in July 2019.
