GJ van Velze, a familiar face at Bath Rugby, has returned to the club for the 2023/24 season.
The utility forward made a strong impression last year with coaches, players and fans alike and will bolster the team’s options in the pack.
In the latter stages of 2022/23, the South African was influential in the functioning of Bath Rugby’s line-out, putting in 80-minute performances week-on-week.
Boasting over 150 Premiership appearances across three Premiership teams, van Velze’s experience has seen his inclusion in the club’s leadership group, using his wealth of knowledge to guide and influence his younger teammates.
The utility player has signed for a second season with Bath Rugby and will be available for selection come the commencement of the season in September.
Of securing van Velze, Head of Rugby, Johann van Graan, said: “GJ really impressed us last season and it’s great to be able to welcome him back for a second year.
“The experience he brings to the group is something you can’t teach.
“His calmness, both on and off the field, is just one of the attributes GJ brings to this side and I’m pleased we’re able to have both his playing ability and his vast experience again this season.”
