Blues confirm new contract for future All Blacks star

A product of King’s College and the Blues development pathways, Sullivan has been part of the Blues environment since his teenage years and continues to grow as one of the club’s most exciting players.

Sullivan first came to prominence representing NZ Māori Schools and NZ Schools at first five-eighth before transitioning into the Blues A side in 2020. That same year, he earned his break at provincial level with Auckland in the NPC, collecting eight caps at fullback while also training with the Blues as injury cover.

He made his Blues debut in the final round of the 2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa season, starting at fullback against the Chiefs at Eden Park in a memorable occasion that saw him line up against his brother Bailyn.Sullivan said he was pleased to extend his contract with the Blues.

“This club means a lot to me. I’ve come through the system here and had incredible support from the coaches, players and staff along the way,” Sullivan said.

“I feel like I’ve still got more to achieve and a lot more to give. I’m excited about where this group is heading and grateful to be part of it for the next few years.”

Blues GM Rugby Murray Williams said Sullivan’s re-signing was an important investment in the club’s future.

“Zarn represents many of the things we value in our environment. He’s come through our pathway, understands our game model, and has a genuine connection to the Blues jersey,” he said.

“He’s shown real growth over the past few seasons, and we believe his best rugby is still ahead of him. Securing him through to 2028 gives us continuity and excitement in a key position.”
