Saracens are facing a battle from France to keep hold of Maro Itoje after the World Cup.
The England lock is out of contract next year and his club have previously expressed concerns about staying within the salary cap, with Itoje recently tipped for a punchy million-pound deal.
He has told Saracens that he sees his long-term future with the champions, but the Mail Online has reported that interest from wealthy Top 14 clubs is beginning to surface.
It would take a significant financial package to lure Itoje overseas for a year or more, since he would need to forfeit any short-term England ambitions.
‘Saracens is a great club and I can see myself playing here for a very long time,’ said Itoje. ‘I don’t want to talk about [talks], but it is looking well.’
Billionaire Montpellier owner Mohed Altrad told Sportsmail there will be no shortage of interest in Itoje.
‘It depends on the opinion of our coach Vern Cotter but we would be interested because he is a top-class player,’ said Altrad.
