Wasps centre ruled out for the rest of the season

• Kyle Eastmond will miss the rest of the Premiership season

• The news comes after the Wasps centre tore his Achilles tendon

• The 27-year-old made 16 appearances for Premiership leaders Wasps this season

Following the injury sustained against Gloucester, Eastmond has undergone routine surgery to repair his Achilles tendon which we are pleased to confirm went well, with no complications anticipated.

Kyle is expected to be sidelined for six months, which will unfortunately rule him out of the remainder of Wasps’ 2016/17 campaign:

On the news, Director of Rugby Dai Young said: “It’s obviously really disappointing for Kyle that he will miss the rest of the season and I really feel for him, because it came at a time when he was really starting to find his feet in this side and get a good run of games under his belt.

“The good news is that the operation was as straightforward as it can be with this type of injury and that Kyle is expected to make a full recovery, hopefully being back ahead of the new season.

“Kyle will be a big loss for us as we go into this last part of the season, but we are lucky to have a very competitive group of backs and this will give other players the opportunity to step up, which they have consistently done as a group already this year.”
