“We know George Ford could be available” – Boss confirms interest in Leicester fly-half

Montpellier boss Philippe Saint-André has responded to reports that England and Leicester Tigers fly-half George Ford could join Montpellier next summer.

He said: “We are following the market for open-backs. We know that George Ford could be available.

He has good kicking play and good match management with a lot of experience. ”

The Leicester Tigers player, who is not currently in Eddie Jones’ plans, has an exit clause in his contract, according to The Rugby Paper.

Despite Ford being on the French sides shortlist, it’s believed they’d only be able to offer him in the region of £300,000-£350,000.

This likely won’t be enough to tempt Ford away on this occasion, but based on current Premiership form you’d imagine more and more clubs will start making him offers.

Montpellier have also reportedly approached Toulon playmaker Anthony Belleau. The 25-year-old, who has accumulated 12 France caps, is thought to be a more affordable options, although there is also interest from Clermont.

DID YOU KNOW? George Ford is the son of former England defence coach Mike Ford. His older brother Joe was also a professional rugby player
