2023 World Cup could be Steve Borthwick’s last with England - Ruck

2023 World Cup could be Steve Borthwick’s last with England

Steve Borthwick is 9/2 with William Hill to no longer be England Head Coach come the end of next year’s Six Nations.

With England’s form taking a serious dip in the build-up to the World Cup, Borwick’s position is coming under a lot of scrutiny.

The England Head Coach looks relatively safe to keep his job for the entirety of England’s World Cup with him 20/1 to be out of the role before the end of the tournament.

Few would have put Fiji in the same conversation as England a few months ago but the South Sea Islanders are just 3/1 to outscore England at the World Cup, along with Argentina who are just 11/10 to rack up more points than Borthwick’s men.

William Hill spokesperson, Lee Phelps, said: “Steve Borthwick has come under fire recently with many not backing him to be the right man to take England forward. We make him just 9/2 to no longer be England Head Coach by the end of next year’s Six Nations, and a poor showing at the World Cup next month would see those odds fall even shorter.

“England have had a poor run of results in their warm-up games and that sees some Fiji and Argentina, who are in Pool A with England, 3/1 and 11/10 respectively to outscore England at the World Cup. Being outscored by Georgia would be a dire result for The Red Roses but at 12/1 it does not seem as unbelievable as it should that Georgia will put more points on the board than England.”
