This swell in demand is not limited to the host countries, as tickets have been snapped up by fans in 49 nations across the globe. From Spain to Singapore and Mexico to Macau, rugby enthusiasts worldwide are actively participating in the excitement of the Six Nations. This global reach surpasses other major events like the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome, which attracted buyers from 46 countries, and the Ashes, which saw involvement from 44 nations last summer.
Behind the traditional rugby powerhouses of the UK nations and France, Spain and the USA emerge as unexpected frontrunners in terms of ticket purchases on viagogo. This trend aligns with a recent report from viagogo, revealing a remarkable 50% increase in fans buying tickets for live events overseas in 2023.
The fixture between Italy and England stands out as the most sought-after match among viagogo users, constituting nearly one-third of all Six Nations tickets sold on the marketplace for 2024. Despite face value tickets reaching up to €110, fans are securing their seats at an average price of £57.
When it comes to destination preferences, Rome emerges as the top choice for traveling fans, with 45% of all Six Nations tickets purchased on viagogo designated for the England and Scotland fixtures at the Stadio Olympico. The average cost of these tickets is £53, providing fans with an affordable way to witness the tournament live.
Rugby’s popularity on viagogo remains evident, with the 2023 Rugby World Cup being the most purchased overseas sport ticket among UK buyers last year. Rugby fixtures, as a whole, claimed the second-highest number of tickets sold on the platform in 2023, following closely behind cricket.
