Thanks to their new ownership and structure, Bath have been able to offer Finn Russell a reported Premiership record of between £850,000 to £1million a year. Liam Williams could follow suit, and join the club as a high-profile veteran, to see out his playing days in style. The seemingly unlikely transfer, becomes more and more plausible when further broken down.
The Welsh RFU implemented players to have made a minimum of 25 national team caps, before leaving a Welsh club if they wish to pursue their international careers. Liam Williams has long surpassed this, and with 83 caps, he may be tempted for a lucrative offer and a move to Somerset. Reports have emerged that Williams is looking for a move away from Cardiff, with Top 14’s Lyon the front-runners to sign him.
