In the early hours of Sunday morning, Rassie Erasmus quite clearly shared a sarcastic message on Twitter, which said in part: “We just have to fix these fundamental errors like tackle technique and simple passing. Sorry!”
The tweet also included a video showing Cheslin Kolbe on the receiving end of a dangerous forearm to the face early on in the game.
Responding to the video, one fan wrote: “Seriously, if you want a perfect referee you’re in the wrong game. Coach knowing there will be fine margins and errors. Be the best by a bigger margin and it won’t matter. This behaviour just exposes that you’re rattling Rassie. I love your coaching but I’m hating it lately.”
“Bang on cue, after his team and his coaching fails, to whinge publicly about the ref. This charlatan will be no loss to this great game when SARU finally realize how much he’s holding back so many incredibly talented players,” commented a second.
A third added: “Absolutely embarrassing. You lost, accept the loss gracefully and improve in the areas you need to. The game was not lost due to these two decisions. I hope world rugby throw the book at you. South African rugby is better than this.1918,”
