All Blacks Confirm New Head Coach After 2023 Rugby World Cup

Crusaders Head Coach Scott Robertson has been confirmed as the next in line to take the reigns with the All Blacks, and will become the Head Coach after the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Robertson will take over for Ian Foster after the competition in France.

Robertson will finish his duties in Canterbury, at the end of the current 2023 Super Rugby season, with his side hoping to retain their title. New Zealand Rugby confirm that the 48-year-old’s new contract will see him in charge until the end of the following 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia, on a four-year deal.

The former All Blacks flanker is excited for the new challenge, and spoke to Sky Sports about the role.

“Its an honour to be named as the next All Blacks head coach,” Robertson said. “Its a job that comes with a huge amount of responsibility, but I’m excited by the opportunity to make a contribution to the legacy of the black jersey.

“To represent your country, as a coach or player, is the ultimate honour in sport and it’s humbling to be given that opportunity. I can’t wait.”

Robertson was a certified fan favourite at the Crusaders, making a tradition out of his victory break dancing routine. Robertson joined the Crusaders in 2017, and led them to four Super Rugby titles, and the 2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa championship.

New Zealand begin their 2023 Rugby World Cup campaign in a true clash of the titans encounter. The All Blacks and France will raise the curtain for this year’s competition, in what is set to be a memorable opener with all eyes on the Web Ellis Trophy.
