“Allez Les Bleus” – France Football Manager Didier Deschamps Visits Galthie’s Rugby Training Camp

Didier Deschamps, coach of the French national football team, visited Fabien Galthie’s Les Bleus squad, they continue with preparations for the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Deschamps has won the FIFA World Cup as a player and as a coach, and offered valuable advice to Galthie’s squad.

Deschamps won the 1998 FIFA World Cup from the midfield, and took over the reigns from the side-line for France’s triumph in 2018. He also took Les Bleus to the final of the 2022 World Cup, yet his side was defeated by the Argentine magic of Lionel Messi in Qatar.

The French rugby team are setting off with their World Cup preparations, as their Monaco training camp has commenced. France rugby posted to their social media channels:

“After attending training, the coach of the France team was able to share his experience with our players and the staff during a moment of very inspiring exchanges”.

France captain Antoine Dupont then presented Deschamps with a France rugby jersey, which had been autographed by the whole squad.

France are out to make history, in their mission to win their very first Rugby World Cup. The added boost of the competition taking place on French soil will in no end motivate Les Bleus to break new ground, and keep the Web Ellis trophy in the country. France have reached the Rugby World Cup Final on three occasions, yet have never come away with the title of World Champions.

France suffered a heart-breaking defeat in the first ever final, as they fell to the All Blacks. In 1999 France were beaten by Australia, before again taking runners-up medals at the hands of New Zealand in 2011. The age-old rivalry will be re-ignited in the 2023 Rugby World Cup’s opening match, as France host the All Blacks at the Stade de France, on Friday 8th September.
