“Bags of Potential” – Championship Club Sign Saracens Lock Ahead of 2023/24 Season

Second row forward Obinna Nkwocha has left Saracens, after agreeing a move to Coventry ahead of the 2023/24 RFU Championship season. The 20-year-old is a graduate of the acclaimed Saracens Academy, and made first team appearences for Sarries in the 2022/23 Premiership Rugby Cup.

Nkwocha has also gained Championship experience during the season, having previously featured on loan with neighbouring clubs Bedford Blues and Ampthill RFC.

Speaking about his decision to sign with the club, Nkwocha said to the Coventry official club website: “I’m very grateful for the opportunity to join Coventry. I’m looking forward to working with the team and seeing how I can develop my game.”

At 6ft 6 and nearing on 19 stone, Nkwocha brings a presence to the Coventry pack. He has gotten fans excited at the Butts Park Arena, as Coventry plan to build on their impressive third placed finish this RFU Championship season.

Coventry Head Coach Alex Rae is already looking forward to the second-row arriving at Butts Park: “It’s great to welcome Obinna,” he said.
