Bath back-rower makes shock departure from the Rec

Scotland international back-rower David Denton will leave Bath Rugby this summer to join Worcester Warriors.

The shock announcement was made by the club after the Scotland international endured a season marred by injury.

The giant back row, who can also play at lock, qualified for Scotland through his mother and has played 35 times for his adopted country, with his last appearance coming in June 2016.

He featured four times in Scotland’s 2015 Rugby World Cup run, starting the quarter-final clash against Australia as the Wallabies edged the contest by a single point.

Warriors Director of Rugby Gary Gold said: “David is a powerful athlete who will add more firepower to our back row.

“He is a strong ball-carrier with international experience and we look forward to his arrival in the summer.”

Denton added: “I can’t wait to get started at Warriors. Gary and the team are clearly pushing in the right direction and I want to play a part in driving the Club up the Premiership table.”
