Springboks star to leave Bath and return to South Africa at end of PREM season

The World Cup-winning prop’s contract with the Blue, Black and White expires next summer, and after two outstanding seasons in England, du Toit has opted to head back to where it all began.

The 29-year-old has been nothing short of a revelation since arriving at The Rec in 2023, becoming one of the Gallagher Premiership’s most dominant front-rowers and playing a central role in Bath’s historic 2024/25 treble-winning campaign.

During his time in the West Country, du Toit racked up 21 tries in 52 appearances, earning a nomination for Gallagher Premiership Rugby Player of the Season in 2024. His combination of raw power, mobility and leadership made him a firm fan favourite at The Rec.

Having come through The Sharks Academy, du Toit made his senior debut for the Durban-based side in 2014 before establishing himself as one of the most formidable props in world rugby.

On the international stage, du Toit has won 30 Test caps for South Africa since making his debut against Wales in 2018. He was part of the Springbok squad that lifted the 2019 Rugby World Cup, and more recently played a key role in their 2025 Rugby Championship triumph.

His departure will undoubtedly be felt at Bath, but supporters will wish him well as he heads home to continue his stellar career with The Sharks.
