Reports from the Mail Online indicate that at 4:30 am, police were called to the bar named Epic in Palma after receiving alerts from security personnel.
The 31-year-old athlete reportedly had to be subdued with a taser twice by law enforcement.
Local sources describe the scene where Vunipola, born in Australia to Tongan parents and relocated to the UK during his youth, had removed his shirt and was menacing patrons and staff with bottles and chairs. Subsequently, he was transported to Son Espases Hospital for sedation and restraint.
During the period before the sedation took full effect, multiple security personnel and officers were required to monitor him closely.
Presently, his current location is unknown, although it’s believed he has been released on bail while authorities continue their investigation.
Vunipola, known as a rugby-union number eight for Saracens in Premiership Rugby, faces legal scrutiny in the aftermath of the incident.
Police have not yet commented on the arrest.
Having not been selected by England for the 2024 Six Nations, Vunipola is widely expected to join French club Montpellier next season along with his brother Mako.
That move would end any hopes of an international recall as England players based overseas are ineligible for Steve Borthwick to consider for selection.
