BREAKING: Kevin Sinfield to join England coaching staff

It’s been widely reported that Kevin Sinfield will join Steve Borthwick’s new England coaching staff in the coming days.

Both currently at Leicester, it had been thought that the rugby league legend could replace the departing head coach at Welford Road.

However, it’s now been revealed that the RFU are willing to pay the money necessary to sign both of them ahead of the 2023 Six Nations.

BBC report that ‘the Leicester squad and staff are now prepared for Borthwick’s departure’, while the official confirmation from the Rugby Football Union could come as early as Monday.

Borthwick was initially expected to take over from Jones after the 2023 Rugby World Cup, but the latter’s sacking a year out from the tournament in France has accelerated the process.

The ex-Saracens and Bath lock retired from playing in 2014 and has built a formidable coaching CV since which is headlined by Tigers Premiership title triumph last season.
