Brian Moore has blasted Piers Morgan on Twitter after he brutally criticised Olympic star Simone Biles for ‘mental health issues’
The American withdrew from the team and all-around events at the Tokyo Olympics, it was headline news across the US and the world.
Biles, who is a sexual assault survivor, spoke about the importance of preserving her mental health and the need to “protect our minds and our bodies,” adding: “We are people, at the end of the day.”
Morgan questioned whether mental health issues had become “the go-to excuse for any poor performance in elite sport.”
His criticism concluded by saying “kids need strong role models not this nonsense.”
Moore responded, saying: “This is from a man unable to withstand 30 secs of mild criticism from his weatherman before quitting. Kids need people who don’t belittle mental health as role models.”
