“Challenge Cup Winner” Ireland International Lock Extends Contract with Bath

Bath Rugby have confirmed that Ireland capped international Quinn Roux has extended his contract at the Recreation Ground. The towering lock signed with Bath at the start of the 2022/23 season, yet untimely injuries limited his involvement to just nine appearances this season.

Roux has enjoyed a globe-trotting career in rugby, born in South Africa he first joined up with Western Province in 2011. The 32-year-old achieved silverware success with Western Province, as they won the 2012 Vodacom Cup, this elevated Roux to achieve Super Rugby caps with the Stormers.

The second-rower made the move to the Northern Hemisphere ahead of the 2012 Pro12 season, and found a new home in Leinster. Roux started for the Dubliners in the 2013 Challenge Cup Final, where they were crowned champions over Stade Francais. The following season, Roux went on loan to Connacht, before signing a multi-year deal in 2015.

This extended stay in Ireland saw Roux qualify for the national side through residency. Coincidentally, Roux made his full Ireland debut in his country of birth, during Ireland’s 2016 Summer Series tour to South Africa. Roux stayed with Connacht until 2021, which saw him take a season’s sabbatical in the Top 14 with Toulon, before settling in Somerset, after signing with Bath.

Speaking to the official Bath Rugby website, Quinn Roux said; “I am very excited to be extending my stay with Bath Rugby. Playing at a sold-out Rec is one of the top experiences I’ve had as a player thus far.

“Johann has a clear vision for the club, and I believe we will continue to grow as a squad and build towards delivering the performances and results that our incredible supporters deserve.

“I’m looking forward to playing my part.”
