Chris Ashton returns to Leicester Tigers months after retiring

Leicester Tigers have revealed that Chris Ashton will take on the role of host for the brand-new Chairman’s Lounge in the upcoming 2023/24 season.

Following his retirement from professional rugby at the close of the 2022/23 season, fans will be thrilled to know that Ashton will remain a presence at Mattioli Woods Welford Road, although in a different capacity than before.

In reference to his fresh responsibility as the host of the Chairman’s Lounge, Ashton expressed, “Tigers gave me the opportunity to craft memories and narratives that will endure a lifetime, and I’m eagerly anticipating upholding that connection with the club as we move ahead. Being a part of the matchday arrangement is fantastic, and I am excited to welcome everyone back to Mattioli Woods Welford Road in the near future.”

The all-new Chairman’s Lounge will provide both individual match-by-match and limited seasonal hospitality options. This distinguished space is set to open its doors prior to the first home game of the Gallagher Premiership season, pitting the Tigers against Sale Sharks on Saturday, October 21, at 3:05pm.

Nestled within the North Stand of Mattioli Woods Welford Road, The Chairman’s Lounge will present an intimate and laid-back ambience, offering an unparalleled matchday encounter.

Within the Lounge, patrons will relish a high-end dining experience influenced by the vibrant tapestry of cultures found in Leicester. Complimentary beverages throughout the day and an exclusive pathway leading to cushioned seats positioned along the halfway line will grant remarkable vistas of the on-field action.

The four favourites to replace under pressure England boss Steve Borthwick

Steve Borthwick’s tenure as England boss got off to a disastrous start with a defeat to Scotland at Twickenham in early February.

Subsequently, the team managed to secure only two wins and suffered two defeats, resulting in a disappointing fourth-place finish in the 2023 Six Nations.

However, yet another defeat to Wales in their first World Cup warm-up match has fans worried about the fast approaching Rugby World Cup.

In the event that Borthwick is relieved of his duties after leading the nation to France, RUCK presents four potential coaches who could be considered as replacements.

Who could replace Steve Borthwick at Twickenham?

4. Rob Baxter – 12/1

Rob Baxter, who guided the Devon-based club from the Championship to European champions in 10 years has done this largely with a core of players that have come through the academy at Exeter.

With this season’s club performance not at the level of previous years, it may be time for him to move on and into the Test game in the near futuree.

Although Baxter joined the England coaching team for the summer tour to Argentina and Uruguay in March 2013, he has no experience outside of Exeter. “I would be happy to have a chat about what the role is, how they see it working and what their plans and ambitions are,” Baxter said of the England job back in December.

“Unless you know what it is, it’s hard to say yes or no to anything. At the same time, I’m not looking for another job! I’m very happy here,” he added.
