Ryan Wilson, the Scottish back row player hailing from Aldershot, is currently sought after by the French ProD2 team Beziers, as reported by The Rugby Paper.
The 34-year-old Wilson has been in search of a new club since parting ways with Glasgow Warriors. His contract with the team came to an end at the conclusion of the previous season.
Over the span of a 13-year career on the northern side of the border, Wilson accumulated more than 160 appearances.
Having initially embarked on his rugby journey in his youth with Farnham, Wilson earned his 50th cap in the international arena while facing off against France in March 2021. His eligibility to represent Scotland was established through his maternal grandparents.
Among the noteworthy highlights of his time in international rugby was an altercation involving England captain Owen Farrell at Murrayfield. Back in 2018, Wilson, a part of Scotland’s back row, played a significant role in a heated exchange in the tunnel during the pre-match warm-up. This incident saw Farrell confronting Wilson amidst a chaotic scene as he attempted to provoke George Ford.
The altercation led to Wilson being subsequently barred from entering Twickenham Stadium. Reflecting on the incident in an interview with Rugby Pass in November, Wilson recalled his disbelief when he, despite having lined up a corporate engagement at Twickenham, received a message informing him of the RFU’s decision to prohibit his entry due to the previous year’s tunnel incident.
“I remember that game, I was actually injured and after tunnel-gate, after everything that happened in the tunnel against England, I’d lined up a corporate gig at Twickenham,” he recalled to Rugby Pass in November.
“Had it all lined up, a little bit of cash, all excited, only to get a message back saying the RFU have banned you from Twickenham Stadium after everything that happened the year before.
