Ellis Genge signs HUGE contract to commit to Leicester Tigers

Leicester Tigers loosehead prop Ellis Genge has reportedly turned down the chance to join his hometown club of Bristol Bears and will instead remain at Leicester until 2022.

The 24-year-old, who is nickamed Baby Rhino, played two games for England at the Rugby World Cup this summer.

Due to salary cap constraints, it’s reported that the Bears were only able to offer half of what he will now be earning at Welford Road.

According to Mail Online, the England international, who has won 14 caps under Eddie Jones, has signed new Tigers deal is worth around £400,000 per season, which is £100,000 more than his previous deal.

However, if the struggling Premiership side go down he will be allowed to quit as there is a relegation release clause within the contract.

George Ford also has the option in his new deal after reportedly signing a new £600,000 per season deal while it’s becoming increasingly likely that Jonny May will depart Tigers.
