England handed ‘devastating’ Alex Mitchell injury update

England’s Six Nations campaign has been dealt a blow with the news that Alex Mitchell will miss the remainder of the tournament due to a knee injury.

The Northampton Saints scrum-half sustained a grade-two strain to his anterior cruciate ligament during a training session last Friday, but fortunately, scans have shown that surgery won’t be necessary.

Sources revealed to The Telegraph that Mitchell’s setback was a grade-two strain to his ACL following a nasty twist during England’s practice.

Despite the setback, Mitchell could be back in action for his club within two months, sparing him from the worst-case scenario of a season-ending tear.

However, his absence leaves a void in England’s lineup for crucial clashes against Scotland, Ireland, and France. In his place, coach Steve Borthwick has called up Harry Randall to fill the void.
