Courtney Lawes and Nathan Hughes will miss the rest of the season after suffering a knee ligament injury while on England duty.
A press release issued by England rugby read: “Nathan Hughes (Wasps) and Courtney Lawes (Northampton Saints) will both undergo knee ligament surgery this week following injuries sustained during England’s Six Nations fixture against France.
Hughes is expected to be out for 12 week while Lawes will require 14 weeks of rehabilitation.
England play their final game of the 2018 tournament against Ireland at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday.
Head coach Eddie Jones will name his side to play Ireland on Thursday.
