England injury update: Underhill, Curry, Slade and Wilson

There is plenty of good news on the injury front for England Rugby, according to forwards coach Steve Borthwick.

“Wils (Mark Wilson) has taken a bang to his ribs and is not quite ready for this game. That’s the type of thing that can happen in a World Cup. Players have to adapt.

“All three of those back-rowers are going well. They were out running yesterday and progressing really well. Hopefully, Tom will be available next week (against Ireland at Twickenham).”

Centre Henry Slade is not ready for his return from a knee injury – meaning Jonathan Joseph will wear 13 again against Wales – but is also tracking well.

Former Bath and England captain Borthwick said: “Those kind of injuries you are looking day by day, but he should feature potentially against Italy (on September 6) if he continues to work and improve as well as he has.”
