England powerhouse Ollie Lawrence could quit Bath for Premiership rival

England star man Ollie Lawrence could be set to depart Bath for a Premiership rival at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Having played for England at U18 and U20 levels, he was first called up to the senior squad in 2018 ahead of the summer tour to South Africa. A line-breaking midfielder, Lawrence was called up again by Eddie Jones ahead of the autumn games in 2020.

Recently, Lawrence played a key role in England’s Rugby World Cup campaign in France before retaining his position in the squad ahead of the Guinness Men’s Six Nations 2024.

Rugby Pass have reported today that the Quins are keen on recruiting the ‘cannonball-like England centre as a direct replacement for Andre Esterhuizen.

Despite being tied down for another season, the formidable South African international continues to draw the attention of numerous clubs.

Word has it that he’s turned down advances from French heavyweights Toulon and is now topping the wish lists of various Japanese outfits.

According to Afrikaans outlet Rapport, the Sharks are eager to bring Esterhuizen back to Durban, but they face a substantial fee of £500,000 to secure his services from Harlequins.

Despite the financial hurdle, insiders suggest optimism within the Sharks’ management about persuading Lawrence to return to his roots in South Africa.

This would be the latest departure for Harlequins after Louis Lynagh confirmed yesterday that he will be departing the club.

Four players Steve Borthwick should drop – and who should replace them for Scotland

#1. Fraser Dingwall

Telegraph 5/10: “The try covered a multitude of sins – from George North running straight through him, to not holding his line before passing to Daly.”

Planet Rugby 6/10: “Not a huge carrying threat but a smart operator. Took his try well and is a good distributor on the gain line, although he needs to show more in the rest of the Six Nations.”

Replacement: Ollie Lawrence or Manu Tuilagi (If fit)
