Stuart Hogg, a former Scotland rugby international, was arrested over the weekend outside his ex-wife’s residence.
According to The Sun, the arrest came shortly after Mr. Hogg had attended the Six Nations match at Murrayfield, where Scotland secured a notable victory against England.
He was taken away over allegations that he caused fear and alarm by acting in a threatening or abusive manner on Sunday afternoon in Hawick.
Images surfaced of Mr. Hogg mingling with celebrities, including Martin Compston and Gregg Wallace, following the match. However, the celebratory mood was disrupted when Mr. Hogg was reportedly apprehended later that same day at his previous family residence.
Authorities responded to a call at the address, leading to Mr. Hogg’s detention. Although he has since been released, Mr. Hogg is expected to face legal proceedings in the future.
This incident unfolds amidst Mr. Hogg’s public separation from his wife, Gillian, and his subsequent relationship with former jockey and Sky Sports presenter, Leonna Mayor.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.40pm on Sunday, 25 February, police were called to an address in Hawick.
“A 31-year-old man was arrested and charged. He was released on an undertaking to appeal at Jedburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.
“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
