Gloucester fan favourite is interested in head coach job at Kingsholm

Kingsholm favourite Mark Cornwell, who made over 200 appearances for the Cherry and Whites, has thrown his hat into the ring to be Gloucester’s next head coach.

Asked if he would be interested in the role, Cornwell said: “Of course I would throw my hat into the ring but it seems to me that people go after big names and it has to be a big name that comes in and does these things.

“At the end of the day I’m a coach and I want to coach at the highest level. I just do my talking as regards to the way Hartpury are playing and where we are and what we’re doing at the moment so my focus is with Hartpury.

“You never lose your ambition and my ambition is to coach at a higher level.

“If they came asking of course, being a Gloucester lad, it would be a dream but that’s for other people to decide, not me.”
