Five Lions who've played well so far in New Zealand

Five Lions who’ve played well so far in New Zealand

There has been a lot of negative press surrounding the Lions so we’ve decided to look at five players who’ve actually looked quite good in their opening two fixtures….

1. Taulupe Faletau
His try-saving tackle in the first half against the Provincial Barbarians was outstanding and he’s been the best runner we’ve seen in a Lions shirt so far. He took the game by the scruff of the neck and is nailed on to be in theTest XV.

2. Maro Itoje
What stood out was the England lock’s line speed in defence. It was ferociously quick, while his immense physicality in defence and ball carrying also impressed. Hard to believe he’s the youngest man on the tour.

3. Courtney Lawes
The England lock may be considered an outsider for a Test spot right now but his colossal display against the Blues both in carries and defence puts him in the mix.

4. Ken Owens
A strong carrying display against the Blues, who as captain also delivered a solid set piece display. Probably the favourite for the Test shirt now.

5. Ben Te’o
One of the silver linings of a poor Lions performance against the Provincial Barbarians. Carried strongly, showed good hands and continuously got over the gain line.
