FLOP | 5 Lions contenders who underperformed in Europe this weekend

These five hopefuls for next years British & Irish Lions tour of South Africa did their chances no favours with poor performances during the opening round of the Challenge and Champions Cup.

1. Joe Cokanasiga (England)

Somerset Live dubbed his performance during Bath’s 19-23 defeat against Scarlets as very poor.

They said: “Struggled in defence again, this time with Steff Evans causing him problems. Was at fault for the first try when he gave away the defensive width by getting sucked in to make a tackle on Leigh Halfpenny who was covered by someone else.

“Gave away a needless penalty for a neck roll on Evans in ruck late in the game to hand the ball back to Scarlets when Bath were building pressure. Quite in attack. Struggling.”
