Former international rugby referee has died

RUCK is saddened to hear of the death of former international referee David Leslie.  He was 73.

Mr Leslie controlled two international matches in the old Five Nations Championship – the 1990 game between England and Wales at Twickenham and the 1993 Ireland v France clash at Lansdowne Road, Dublin.

Originally from Hamilton in South Lanarkshire, Mr Leslie’s work in environmental health and waste management took him south of the border.

He refereed out of the Manchester Society and he went on to become the society’s President.

He also served as chairman of rugby for Fylde RFC, near his home in Lytham St Annes.
