Former Rugby World Cup finalist with England buys football club

Yeovil Town is being taken over by a group called SU Glovers, which includes a former England rugby player who participated in the 2007 World Cup final.

Paul Sackey, who played in 22 matches for England and scored four tries during their journey to the final in France over 15 years ago, retired in 2014 and is now involved in football.

In footage shared by Yeovil, Sackey explained: “We love the history of the club. We’ve done a lot of research and background on the club and we love it.

“It’s got such a passionate fanbase. It’s a big club but the position it’s in now, it’s probably too big for this place, so we want to bring [the club] back to where it needs to be.”

DID YOU KNOW? Sackey has two brothers, Eddie and Kojo, and two sisters, Beverly and Annabel. In 2006, Paul set up his own car-sourcing business, finding and selling top-of-the-range cars including, in one case, a £330,000 Reliant Robin
