France manager departs with immediate effect ahead of 2024 Six Nations

In the aftermath of their World Cup quarter-final elimination, France is grappling with yet another setback as general manager Raphael Ibanez steps down from his position, as reported by French outlet Midi Olympique.

Ibanez, the former France captain, had been working alongside head coach Fabien Galthie throughout the previous World Cup cycle.

Their collaboration played a crucial role in positioning Les Bleus as one of the top contenders for the Webb Ellis Cup at their home World Cup.

However, following the disappointing loss to eventual champions South Africa, Midi Olympique reveals that Ibanez has resigned from his role, though he will continue to be associated with the French Rugby Federation.

Interestingly, earlier this year, the 50-year-old Ibanez had inked a contract extension until 2028, mirroring Galthie, who also committed to an extension until 2027.
