Despite being eligible for three nations, Reuben Logan made it clear from an early age that his international future lay with Scotland.
The 20-year-old back-row forward, son of BBC presenter Gabby Logan and former Scotland winger Kenny Logan, previously represented England at Under-18 level before switching allegiance to Scotland, where he has since featured for the Under-20s.

A family with three international options
Reuben was born into one of British sport’s most recognisable families. His mother, Gabby, represented Wales in rhythmic gymnastics at the 1990 Commonwealth Games thanks to her Welsh heritage through football legend Terry Yorath, while his father earned 70 caps and scored 20 tries for Scotland.
That left Reuben eligible to represent England, Wales or Scotland.

England was only a stepping stone
Speaking after making his Scotland U20 debut, Reuben admitted England’s U18 setup helped his development but insisted Scotland had always been his long-term ambition.
“I spoke to dad about it… it was good for my development to be there but I always had in the back of my mind the main goal, which is obviously playing for Scotland.”
He added:
“Every person that puts on the thistle at any level wants to play for Scotland… there’s no bigger achievement for myself than playing for Scotland at Murrayfield.”
Wales fans made one final attempt
Speaking on Sam Warburton’s podcast, Gabby revealed Welsh supporters even tried to convince Reuben to switch to Wales during the funeral of her father, Terry Yorath.
“They were asking Reuben if he’d consider switching allegiances,” she said.
“But to be fair to Reuben, he’s been Scottish since he was born.”
Gabby also recalled Kenny’s amusing dilemma when Reuben played for England U18s.
“Kenny was not quite sure how to cheer for him,” she laughed. “He just shouted, ‘Come on Reuben!’ He said, ‘I can’t say, come on England!'”
