George Ford gave ‘one of the great performances by an England fly-half’

Former England and British & Irish Lions head coach, Clive Woodward has heaped praise on fly-half George Ford for his ‘breathtaking’ display against Argentina.

Ford seemed back to his clinical best with a commanding showing in England’s 38-34 win against the Pumas.

Woodward said that Ford gave: “one of the great performances by an England No 10,” and added that he was “magnificent in all respects.

“His passing game was back to its very best, he tackled, won turnovers, tidied up in defence and kicked goals from all over the pitch,” said Woodward.

“He was quite superb and it was a breathtaking response to the critics who were beginning to circle after an indifferent club season with Bath and an unconvincing performance last time out against Ireland in the Six Nations.”

Ford will take a break from the game when England return from Argentina before joining up with his new club Leicester Tigers for pre-season towards the end of July.
