George Ford’s wife arrived in UK as refugee after home bombed, they’re now expecting first child

England’s rugby sensation, fly-half George Ford, is not only dazzling on the field during the Six Nations but is also stepping into a new role off the pitch.

Entrusted by coach Steve Borthwick to spearhead the backline, Ford recently marked a significant personal milestone as he and his wife, Atdhetare Hoxha, whom he exchanged vows with in October 2022, eagerly anticipate their journey into parenthood.

Atdhetare’s journey to this momentous occasion is nothing short of inspiring. Arriving in Britain in 1999 as a young child fleeing the horrors of war in Kosovo, she and her family embarked on a remarkable journey of resilience and determination.

Despite leaving behind their homeland, Atdhetare’s father worked tirelessly in restaurants, starting from the humble position of a pot wash, to provide for his loved ones.

Fuelled by her aspirations, Atdhetare pursued her dream of owning a restaurant. In early 2020, her vision became a reality with the opening of Sorella, an Italian culinary gem nestled in Saddleworth, Greater Manchester.

This venture marked the beginning of a successful family business, with Atdhetare and her relatives expanding their culinary empire to include four restaurants, including Mazzo and Vicino in Royton.

Atdhetare’s journey to entrepreneurial success wasn’t without its challenges. From starting out in a hairdressing salon to dabbling in trading, she persevered until she achieved her dream of owning a thriving restaurant.

As they embark on this new chapter together, George and Atdhetare are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first child, a testament to their enduring love and shared dreams for the future.
