Stuart Hogg has been branded ‘insensitive’ for a new year’s day post alongside his new girlfriend Leonna Mayor following his shock split from his wife.
The relationship only became public last month after after Hogg’s wife of seven years, Gillian, gave birth to their daughter, Phoebe Anne. The timing of these events is reported to have left Gillian heartbroken.
Hogg wrote on Instagram: “Starting the New Year with the best 😍🏇🏼”
In response, one fan wrote: “Totally distasteful. Shame on you and your tart.”
A second commented: “To post this on your sons birthday!”
However, a number of followers also came out in support of the former Scotland captain.
One fan wrote: “I’m so so shocked by these awful comments. It really makes me sad that this is the society we are raising children in. Social media has so much to answer for. If you don’t like someone, don’t follow them – it’s really that simple. Making derogatory and personal comments about a man, I suspect most of you don’t actually know, is appalling!”
