Maro Itoje was taken to hospital for scans on a facial injury
England fear he may have fractured his cheekbone or jaw
They start their Six Nations campaign against Italy on February 4
The London Evening Standard has reported that Maro Itoje is in a race against time to be for the start of the 2018 Six Nations with fears the forward suffered a broken jaw against Harlequins.
The Saracens lock was forced off in the 48th minute of his side’s 20-19 defeat at The Stoop on Sunday after he collided with England teammate Mike Brown’s shoulder.
Itoje was taken to hospital with blood streaming from his mouth and Sarries are anxiously awaiting the results of a scan.
A fractured jaw or cheekbone would make him a major doubt for England’s Six Nations opener on February 4 against Italy in Rome.
This would also mean he’d definitely miss the European Champ Cup double ble -header against French champions Clermont Auvergne.
