James Haskell picks his all-time dream back-row

The 86-cap Springbok was a member of the 2007 Rugby World Cup-winning team, has twice been named South African Rugby Player of the Year (in 2004 and 2011), and was named IRB Player of the Year in 2004, among other accolades. He

Haskell said: "A player who shows absolutely no regard for his body. He is just so incredibly physical and it is so tough playing against him."

He captained the national team, the All Blacks, in 110 out of his 148 test matches, and won two Rugby World Cups. He has won the World Rugby player of the year award a joint record three times and was the most capped test rugby player of all time from August 2015 to October 2020.

Haskell said: "The thing that has stood out for me is his decision-making at the breakdown,  knowing when to compete for the ball, to clear out or to get back in the line, he always makes the right decision and he’s been doing it for years."

DID YOU KNOW? McCaw was taught to fly gliders by his grandfather J H 'Jim' McCaw who flew more than 300 missions in the Second World War.

Playing in all three positions in the back row, he won 85 caps for England, and was part of the team that won the 2003 World Cup.

Haskell said: " There were a number of competitors but I’ve got to show a bit of loyalty to Lawrence. He’d be captain of any team, his leadership was incredible and was someone I really looked up to coming through at Wasps."
