Joe Marler scored incredible title winning try while on loan in 2010

Back in 2010, an interception try by prop Joe Marler in the final minute of Esher’s clash with Blaydon sealed the win they needed to clinch promotion to the Championship.

The 31-12 victory, coupled with defeat away to Tynedale for nearest rivals London Scottish, ensured Esher could not be caught at the top of National League One, with five games of the season still to play.

Half-time substitute Marler completed the scoring when he picked off a Blaydon pass on the Esher 40-metre line and raced clear to touch down under the posts.
