Lawrence Dallaglio picks his choice to start fullback for England

Lawrence Dallaglio has insisted Eddie Jones still does not know who is first-choice full-back in an interview with BTSport.com

And the England legend believes Alex Goode remains the most natural fit to fill the position as the countdown to the 2019 Rugby World Cup continues.

Asked whether Goode’s continued omission from England squads strikes him as illogical, Dallaglio said: “It does – but sometimes your face fits and sometimes it doesn’t.”

“Jones selected Mike Brown for many years, but he’s now out of the picture,” he said, adding: “He’s been picking Daly at full-back but, too me, he doesn’t seem to want to play full-back and nor is he playing his best rugby in that position.

“He certainly didn’t settle well there in the autumn and he really struggled under the high ball.

“We all thought that Daly would be the answer at 15 but put him on the wing or at 13 and he looks a better player.

“There’s still a vacancy at full-back for England so if I was Goode I wouldn’t be giving up hope.

“He might have to wait until after the end of the World Cup, but hopefully he still has aspirations of playing for England.”
