Liam Williams was forced to apologise for very controversial fancy dress costume

Wales international Liam Williams was forced to issue an apology in 2014 for a fancy dress costume in which he ‘blacked-up’ as then Swansea City Premier League striker Wilfried Bony.

The image was retweeted 160 times and favourited 345 times after Williams shared it with his 31,000 Twitter followers.

Williams, who later apologised, said Bony, who gave him the shirt and shorts, gave the costume his blessing.

One fan tweeted: “Never forget when Liam Williams dresses up Wilfred Bony,”

Liam Williams facts:

  1. No regional academy picked up the young Williams, so he went to work as a scaffolder at the Port Talbot steelworks
