4. Jason Robinson – Christianity
The rugby legend revealed that he once considered attempting suicide after being arrested for affray, assault and criminal damage during the troubled early phase of his career.
Robinson, who scored for England in the 2003 World Cup final victory against Australia and toured with the British and Irish Lions in 2001 and 2005, said the incident occurred during his early days at Wigan Warriors rugby league club, a period of his life that was marked by heavy drinking sessions.
The England legend describes how he considered suicide but through the life and testimony of friend and Wigan team-mate Va’aiga Tuigamala was drawn to Christianity.
“The very reason that I became a Christian is because I’m not perfect, is because I need help, and because I can’t do it on my own,” he explained, adding: “However strong or weak I’ve been I will always go back to the source, and that is my faith in Christ.”
