LIST: 5 Things to Know About England Debutant Ollie Chessum

Here are five things you should know about the 21-year-old Leicester Tigers forward.

Chessum began playing rugby at Carre's Grammar School in Sleaford at the age of 13, before playing club rugby for Sleaford, Newark and Kesteven.

Chessum was attached to Leicester's academy as a teenager but was not taken into the main senior academy at 16, instead he played for his club and the Notts, Lincs and Derby Rugby Union youth teams, during which time he represented England Counties at U18 level. He joined Nottingham straight from school and impressed at the club making 11 appearances before joining Tigers.

Chessum said: ""Ben Pickard was my PE teacher who first got into playing rugby at school in Years 7 and 8. I originally played football and he was the one who encouraged me to play rugby."

Ollie's brother Lewis, 17, is part of also part of the Tigers Academy as a second-row. But for the time being, their younger brother Dylan, 12, enjoys football.

Before signing with Tigers, he was a season ticket holder at Welford road prior to signing with Nottingham.

He said: "I've been a supporter since I was able to pick up a rugby ball and only a couple of years ago I was in the stands watching as a fan.

"Tigers want to develop young, local players like me and that's massive."

Eddie Jones has compared to versatile forward Courtney Lawes. An adaptable forward, Chessum can play as a lock or across the back row.
