LIST | 5 things you didn’t know about new Leicester Tigers signing Dan Kelly

Leicester Tigers have confirmed the signing of Ireland under-20 midfielder Dan Kelly ahead of next season. 

1. English-qualified

The 18-year-old was born in Manchester, so despite representing Ireland U20 could play for England. He was Irish qualified through his grandparents.

2. Code-switch

 He excelled in rugby league before switching to union.

3. Other offers

He reportedly had more than one strong offer to play his rugby in Ireland next season. The situation was complicated by the fact that he is on a scholarship at Loughborough.

4. Previous clubs

He currently plays for Loughborough Students in National League One and had been part of the Sale Sharks academy prior to that.

5. How he’s described

“Dan is a no-nonsense, talented young player who we are delighted to have joining,” head coach Geordan Murphy said.
