Leicester Tigers forward Ed Slater has replaced Northampton Saints lock Courtney Lawes in England’s training squad for Saturday’s RBS 6 Nations game against Wales at Twickenham.

Lawes sustained an ankle injury in the first half of Northampton’s victory over Saracens at Allianz Park on Saturday. The 27-year-old has now been ruled out.

Tigers’ Slater is among 33 players who assembled at Pennyhill Park on Sunday ahead of the match against Wales on 12 March.

Centre Luther Burrell (Northampton Saints) also returns the squad for wing Marland Yarde (Harlequins) who suffered a shoulder injury during Harlequins defeat to Sale Sharks on Saturday.

Centre Ollie Devoto (Bath Rugby) is also fit again having been sidelined with concussion a fortnight ago.
