Martin Johnson reveals his choice to captain England moving forward

Owen Farrell took over the captaincy during for the summer tour of South Africa, in the absence of Dylan Hartley, but England lost two from three after a disastrous Six Nations.

Now Hartley is back to full fitness and, even though he has not hit form for some time, Martin Johnson believes the hooker should be reinstated as captain.

‘With all the turmoil, you’d probably stick with Dylan,’ said Johnson.

‘Eddie’s a little bit on the conservative side and he often goes with what he knows. Owen can potentially do it and maybe he will, but Owen will lead without being captain.

“Hopefully Dylan’s fresh and can have one last crack at it. You just want to see him being a bit more active around the field because he’s an instinctively good player.

“He can be doing more on the pitch than he has been doing.”
